Frēsh 18 is open to all individuals involved in the process of creating, studying, marketing or promoting creative work within the creative industries. All work that is entered must have been produced within the last calendar year, from January 2017.

Your entry should comprise a specific project, submitted in a way that makes sense for our judging panel to review and grade. Entries are graded on originality, freshness, inspiration, context and craft. The following considerations will help you ensure your work is eligible for review. Originality: Does your work display creative individuality? Does it feel well considered or interesting?

Freshness: Does your work feel current? Avant-garde even? Is your work pushing your craft in a new or evolving direction?

Inspiration: Is this work exciting? Does it make our creative hearts flutter and send our minds racing?

Context: Is this work a relevant fit within it's category? Do you show thought and consideration for the category or categories you’re submitting it to? Craft: Does the work reflect your skill and knowledge of your craft? Would you say this entry successfully communicates it's function?

Entering Projects

There is no limit to the number of entries you may submit, but you should submit different projects separately. You may enter each project into one or two categories.

If your entry was co-created with other individuals you should list them by name in the contributors step of the entry process. You can add as many contributors as you wish.

Entering a project more than once will not help your chances of a favourable review, infact this may damage your chances by diluting the opportunity to review your work between our judging panel.

Foreign Language Entries

We encourage entries from all over the world, but if your entry includes a version that features text or audio narrative in English, we encourage you to enter that. All foreign language entries that are reviewed by an English-speaking judge will be translated using tools at the judges discretion, such as Google Translate, and may be subject to incorrect context or translation. Please dub or subtitle video content into English if you can.

Offensive or Unlawful Work

Entries that contain pornographic material, propagate messages of hate, make defamatory statements or that are otherwise offensive are not eligible to win and will be deleted before the shortlist judging round.

Fake or Spec Work

Entries that are fake, or are mock re-designs of property owned by existing brands, digital platforms and software will not be eligible for judging. This also applies to spec work (work created for a client, but not commissioned or paid for by a client or media entity), which will be deleted before the shortlist judging round.

Work created by Agencies, Studios or Corporate Entities

You may submit work created by your agency or employer, provided they meet the eligibility guidelines, and that you have personally played a crucial role in the creation or promotion of the submitted work. You must also include the creative contributors to this project if you’re not one of the creators personally.

Disqualification

Ineligible or incomplete entries may be disqualified at any phase of the judging process without notification. Any work you enter that you have copied, stolen, or purchased from another creator, or from a stock library of any kind, will be disqualified immediately.

Acknowledgment of Entries

Entrants will receive an email acknowledgment when an entry has been received.
